Abstract

The review critically focuses on maize, one of the most important crops around the world. Different aspects of growing maize at different spacing are covered under this. Maize crop yield directly relates to the plant population and geometry. This article reviews factors affecting the yield of maize and how it gets affected by spacing. Morphology, quality, weed presence, lodging and yield are compared one to one with different populations and arrangement of the crop. Excessive plant population and plant underpopulation both lead to effect in yield. There is need of an optimum plant population where the highest yield along with other parameters will obtained. With the help of this review, growers and researchers can lead to a better understanding of plant population and geometry influencing in case of highdensity production around the world.
